The Brief: Identity design for Fototoast
FotoToast is a photographer's cafe that professional photographers can leverage to share their work with a worldwide audience. They can create their profile on the site and showcase their portfolios across just about any photography style and genre. I am the founder of FotoToast, a platform where creativity blossoms and visitors escape to a world of wonderment. It is as much for photographers deeply passionate about and intimately involved in this still art form, as it is for those who appreciate and value the skill to capture moments in time.
After a lot of experimenting, I decided on a blue-black-white color harmony for a refined yet striking look. I wanted the logo to stand out and thought that excessive use of the color white would make it look dull (as you may know, white and blue is a classic combination, but I wanted to try something a bit different). I used symbols depicting photography in the logo; stuck to simple fonts; and incorporated the 'photographer's cafe' slogan under the brand name.
